After years of playing in bands and performing the same songs with the same faces, Karl — aka KaTo — created KaTo & Co.: a project built on variety, energy, and collaboration with special guests. You may already know him from some of Macclesfield’s standout groups, including KaTo & JoE and, more recently, Macclesfield's favourite, Macc Woodfleet.

This time, he’ll be joined by the incredible Grace Haydon from the ever-popular local band Cherry Red. Together, their voices will blend into rich harmonies, backed by Karl’s signature “one-man-band” style — singing while playing guitar, stomping the pedal, and even keeping rhythm with a tambourine at the same time.

Expect an afternoon of soulful harmonies, dazzling guitar work, and infectious percussion. If you’ve never seen Karl in action before, you’re in for an absolute treat!

Penny Sharman is inspired by wild landscapes and relationships between the seen and unseen. She is a published poet, photographer, artist and therapist. Penny has a MA in Creative Writing from Edge Hill University, has had poems published in The North Mslexia, Candlestick Press, Northern Gravey and many others. She reached shortlists for The Bridport Prize, 2023 and the Michael Marks Environmental Poet of the year prize 2023. She was highly commended in the Fool of Poetry Chapbook competition in 2024 and highly commended in Manchester Cathedral's Poetry Competition 2024. She reached the shortlist for 15 of the Live Canon Poetry Competition 2024. The Christie at Macclesfield benefits patients from Cheshire, the High Peak area of Derbyshire and parts of North Staffordshire who would normally have to travel long distances for their cancer treatment at The Christie. This means they will be able to receive their treatment closer to home.

The Christie at Macclesfield will treat patients with the most common cancers like breast, bowel, and lung. Patients with rare and complex cancers will continue to be treated at The Christie in Withington.

While you’re at The Christie at Macclesfield, you will remain under the care of your Christie consultant. You’ll continue to receive regular appointments for medical reviews either at the main Christie site or at The Christie at Macclesfield.

The £26 million development at The Christie at Macclesfield is the third in a network of local Christie radiotherapy centres where patients can access first-class radiotherapy treatments from Christie experts, but much closer to home. The other centres are in Oldham and Salford.

In addition to providing 12,500 radiotherapy appointments a year, The Christie at Macclesfield will transform cancer care, delivering local specialist access to chemotherapy, holistic support and information services, outpatient care, palliative care, counselling and complementary therapy and a wider range of clinical trials than at present.

The centre will provide 46,000 patient appointments and visits each year and provide care closer to home for more than 1,500 patients a year.

Storytelling songs and cynical social commentary meet in the performances of Chris Tavener.
His theatrical style delivers lyrics written from the perspective of flawed characters; drawn from the bitter and humorous parts of 21st century life. His often comedic words set to original folk and rock melodies have generated unique comparisons from Bob Dylan to Flight of the Conchords, to Jake Bugg and Tim Minchin.

Originally from Northwich in Cheshire, Tavener has toured across the UK, Ireland and Europe with his songs being heard on BBC 6 Music and multiple BBC Introducing stations. He’s popular for his live performance that has seen him sharing the stage with Super Hans, Tony Hadley and Peter Hook while also writing songs for the likes of Sir Ian McKellen.

Tavener's debut at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival came in 2024, with a one-man show entitled ‘Chris Tavener is Faking Cool’. 15 evenings in August were met with a slew of four and five star reviews and a string of sold out shows. The success of the run led to an invitation to support folk songwriter Gaz Brookfield on tour, as well as rock ‘n’ roll legend, John Otway.

You will come in through the front door on Chestergate (we open at 5pm) you can mingle and have a drink downstairs in the new main bar, then the gate to upstairs will be open from 7:30pm and the show will start at 8pm.

As a teenager, Ben developed a great passion for classic rock music as he discovered artists such as Jimi Hendrix, The Who and AC/DC. At fourteen years old, he picked up a guitar and has not looked back since.
Ben’s music is filled with energy, driven by his powerful voice and fierce guitar style. His explosive sound harkens back to blues based 70’s rock, with a modern day indie twist.
Ben is based in Manchester and performs with his band and solo around the North West and the Midlands in the UK. His music has been played on Radio XS (now Radio XS Manchester) as well as many other rock music stations around the UK, Europe and America.

Ben P Williams is a difficult artist to pigeonhole and is all the better for it. Discovering The Beatles LP’s in his parents cupboard aged five, he instantly became obsessed and began a voyage of musical discovery which has lasted his whole life. Moulding the classic song
writing sound of Paul Simon with the laidback nature of Jack
Johnson, Ben draws inspiration from the greats while injecting his own wit and imagination for lyrics which perfectly encapsulate relatable experiences to make you smile. As a guitarist, Ben has worked with Grammy award winning producers, appeared on
BBC 1, ITV and Channel 5, and played concerts as the support act for major artists such as Nile Rodgers and Chic, Will Young, Mick Hucknall and Lisa Stansfield. He has supported artists on European tours and at festivals around the world including South By South West Festival in Texas. After years of working on other peoples’ projects, Ben woke up one day and randomly wrote a song by and for himself. This first song opened the floodgates and was the catalyst for Ben to pursue his solo endeavours as a singer-
songwriter. His debut album, Who Do You Think You Are? was released in 2015 to critical acclaim and received airplay on BBC Radio 2 (Dermot O’Leary Show) and BBC Introducing Manchester.
Ben has since released three further albums, Put It On Ice in 2017, the stripped back Minimum of Fuss in 2019 and Under The Radar in 2023. These albums have seen support from BBC Radio 6, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Introducing. “Guaranteed to bring a smile to your face”

A group of local Macclesfield musicians will be presenting a broad range

of music, ranging from rock and pop covers, to Americana-influenced

songbook favourites, to folk-inspired ballads and instrumentals, as well as

a few self-composed songs – to give you a wonderful evening of uplifting

and often familiar musical numbers – all given the acoustic treatment.

All proceeds are in aid of The Christie Hospital at Macclesfield, to support

the hospital's life-saving work for cancer patients right across our local

region.

The Christie at Macclesfield opened its doors in a fantastic new building

Hailing from Fleetwood and grown in York, Harrison Rimmer has been playing music across the UK, Europe, Australia, Asia and keeps on growing from strength to strength. Combing a multitude of influences from Marvin Gaye, Nirvana, Bruce Springsteen and more he keeps on growing as he continues writing and preforming. Harrison has supported a wide variety of artists such as: Red Ken (Ferocious Dog), Tony Wright (TerrorVision), Rick Witter & Paul Banks (from Shed Seven),Tom Hingley (from Inspiral Carpets), Gaz Brookfield, RSJ ,The Band from County Hell, Hannah Trigwell and many more. Whilst also writing and performing songs for himself, Harrison has also been writing for other people and continues explore new styles and genres whilst keeping elements of his punk rock and classical roots. The DIY approach to music has been at the forefront of the work that he has been doing and what continues to drive him forward. As an artist Harrison bounces between upbeat Alternative Rock to reflective and mellow acoustic ballads.

Diane’s poetry has been included in anthologies, performed at venues in England and Ireland and featured on the radio, with an occasional prize-winner in the mix. Sometimes she threatens to bring out her own collection. In the meantime she is very excited to make her debut as guest poet at the Button Warehouse.
