The Six Perfections
This course will be led by long-term students of Lama Jampa Thaye, a scholar and meditation master trained in the Sakya and Karma Kagyu traditions of Buddhism and founder of the Dechen Buddhist Community. For more information, visit lamajampa.org, kagyubuddhism.org and dechen.org
All beings want happiness and want to avoid suffering, but don’t know how to achieve this in a lasting way. The six perfections are fundamental and profound Buddhist teachings that are designed to transform our perspective, taking it from being inward-looking to being skillful and compassionate. This outward-looking perspective removes our fixation on self and paradoxically increases our happiness as we stop clinging to what seems good and rejecting what seems bad.
In this course, which will run over three sessions, we will look at each of the six perfections, considering what each one is, how it can be put into practice, and its benefits for us and for others. While the six paramitas are fundamental practices of Mahayana Buddhism whose cultivation strengthens practice and brings enlightenment, they are equally applicable to anyone interested in developing a different way of viewing and interacting with the world.
This course consists of three sessions.
