Macc Laughs - Women in Comedy Festival Double Bill

The Fifth Annual Women in Comedy Festival in Manchester (Oct 19-29) is described as one of the "UK's best comedy festivals" (The Skinny) and this year is putting on more than 50 events across the city!

Can't make it to Manchester? Want to see some shows before Manchester does? We got you. We're bringing a little bit of the festival to Macclesfield.

Come and watch two international ladies' hour-long shows back-to-back, including MaccLaugh's very own resident MC, Clay Nikiforuk!

Clay was an improv performer, storyteller, and writer, but after a near-death Air France experience, decided to be a stand-up comedian. Fun To Be Around is a mental health manifesto so crazy, it just might work...

What do you say to someone you love when you think they may have lost their marbles? Join this comedic journey and explore how humour and honesty can rebuild a sense of normalcy, even after someone (maybe you) has gone off the deep end.

A manic mash-up of stand-up comedy and storytelling, equal parts confession, critique, and rallying cry. Featured in Toronto’s Best of Fringe, Clay is back with shiny new material in her favorite old format: myth-busting research, stories of real things that actually happened, and no-holds-barred funniness.

Praise for previous work:

“Funny and Brutally honest” – NOW Toronto

"A fantastic script and charming presence. A definite must-see” - Charlebois Post

Katharine Ferns is In Stitches

Brutally funny and unflinchingly honest, “In Stitches” is the latest Fringe hit from Manchester-based Canadian comedian Katharine Ferns. Based on true events from her own life, the story begins on April 21, 2016 - the day Prince passed away and Katharine ended up in stitches (literally). Through personal insights and a lot of laughs, Katharine’s acclaimed solo show leaves her audiences in stitches (figuratively).

“It is pitch perfect performance and a beautifully-written, perfectly-pace comedy script. Absolutely wonderfully done. A perfect Fringe show. Laughs. Tears. Jaw-dropping. It deserves a (formerly-known-as) Perrier Award.” - John Fleming

“Brutally honest from the start this show just goes to prove you can make comedy out of tragedy….moving, witty and sincere performance.” - North West End

They will be supported by Stu Wooding - comedian and full-time man (Hot water new comedian winner 2015)

"A natural on stage, and instantly liked by the crowd." - Hot Water Comedy

"Charming, lovable, master of the misdirection, and very very funny." - Caffeine and Comedy
